This is the next in our series of podcast episode discussions regarding how my friends and I personally experienced the Church History Gospel Topics Essays.
For this episode, my co-hosts were Bill Reel and Allan Mount.
Episode 8 is a review of the Essay titled: Peace and Violence among 19th-Century Latter-day Saints
This Essay has the potential to really affect readers/listeners differently as they unpack the degree to which some of the adherents to and leaders of the Latter-day Saint movement contributed to a culture and practice of violence—even murder—in the 19th Century.
When I studied this Essay, from the cited sources, and went further into learning about Mormonism and Violence, I discovered that the narratives I learned and taught from the leaders and manuals of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints regarding what happened in the 19th Century were in many cases, misleading and polished.
